Low Pressure Washing

The term, low pressure washing, or soft wash, is used to distance the negative reaction from pressure washing or house washing. Because of this low pressure washing has also come under scrutiny with additives such as bleach, which if used alone, can damage plants.

At Powell Painting and Home Services our wash for a wood sided home consists of a low pressure application with a water, Jomax and bleach solution. most importantly Jomax has 3 properties, enhancer to strengthen the bleach to kill mold on contact, mildewcide which slows the reoccurring mold return and a neutralizer when rinsed prevents plant damage.

Low pressure washes can be performed on wet or dry days allowing little to no weather interruptions most importantly this process is relatively fast for a two-person crew.

All windows and shrubs are rinsed before the chemicals are applied. This is a precautionary step. As environmentally safe as the product is, some plants react differently and rinsing first protects the plants.

After the cleaning solution has been applied, all windows and plants are again rinsed. The process of rinsing activates the Jomax "neutralizing ingredient" which allows the surface to be clean and the grounds and plants to be safe.

Pressure Washing Your Home

The term "Pressure washing" has a negative connotation for most home owners as it is considered to be an action that can damage your home and cause water damage to the inside. Meanwhile pressure washers are relatively inexpensive to purchase and homeowners that are “do it yourselfers” experiment with their new tool often damaging wood surfaces by holding the gun too close to the surface or injecting water inside the home by getting too close to door and window edges.

Some painters will also use a pressure washer to attempt to remove paint to avoid scraping and sanding. However this process can damage your home or shorten the lifespan of a paint job.
